End Product Testing

As the designated service provider for the 1394 Trade Association's (1394TA) Logo Program, QP is uniquely qualified to provide end product testing services. While the 1394TA is yet to certify 3rd party Compliance Logo testing, QP can provide prescreen testing of products to help our customers better prepare for a 1394TA sponsored Compliance and Interoperability Workshops or simply increase confidence that a product is ready for market.

Base 1394 Test Suite

The 1394TA's Base 1394 Test Suite is divided into two (2) distinct sections: Electrical and Protocol.

Electrical

Using QP developed tools each parameter is tested to the 1394TA defined Base 1394 Test Suite Definition. The following parameters are tested:

  • Differential Termination
  • Common Load
  • Input Impedance
  • Transmit Jitter
  • Transmit Skew
    - Rise/Fall Time
  • Cable Power

Protocol

The protocol test focuses on the Device Under Test (DUT) implementation of key 1394/1212 functions. Using a QP developed tool the following areas are tested:

  • 1394/1212 Protocol Tests
    – Transaction Capable
  • Base Rate (S100 for the cable environment)
  • Quadlet read and write transaction support
  • The following Core CSR registers – STATE_CLEAR, STATE_SET
    – NODE_IDS
    – RESET_START
    – SPLIT_TIMEOUT
    – General format Configuration ROM
  • Optional Features – Isochronous capable (isc)
    – Cycle master capable (cmc)
    – Isochronous resource manager capable (irmc)
    – Bus manager capable (bmc)

Network Test Suite

Focuses on the interaction of the Device Under Test (DUT) in multi-node topologies. QP verifies how DUT affects other nodes and how it performs its functions while other nodes are operational. Supports the same configurations as the 1394TA Network Test Suite; Apple and Microsoft environments.
